Jeff Lehman needs to take a creditability check

http://www.joetascona4mayor.com/index.html

If he looks like a developer….
Jeff Lehman needs to take a creditability check,
or at the very least to realize that making a
statement often enough does not make it the
truth.

Lehman, recently quoted in the Barrie
Examiner, indicated “he does not accept
campaign contributions from developers”
.

For the record let’s just follow the development
“money trail” – who paid ($5,000) so he could
have dinner with the Premier?

How about we just follow the development
“contributors trail” – from his list of campaign
contributors for 2006 land developments were dealt
with during his term on Barrie council.

Or maybe we should follow the development
“lineage” – NRU Greater Toronto Area Edition,
Wednesday, March 24, 2010, state: “His father,
Bob Lehman, is a former City of Toronto senior
Planner and president of Meridian Planning
Consultants. Jeff Lehman is a principal with the
Urban development firm MKI”.

How does that old adage go – If he looks like a
developer than maybe he is a developer!

  1. Hi Joe
I feel that, generally speaking, Barrie has had too many mayors that were somewhat lacking in substance but abundant in political rhetoric. With perhaps the exception of the current mayor who chooses to say nothing at all. I think it’s time for a mayor of a less watery consistency.
Reading your post did pique my interest in Jeff Lehman’s professional life. My research took me to MKI’s website. Perhaps I’m incorrect, but it reads to me as a consulting firm. Of course MKI is connected to urban development by providing information necessary for responsible development. However, from what I gather, the firm does not actually develop land. I’m a little concerned that your blog post might be of that political watery substance called semantics.

  2. Hi again Joe, it's been a while since I posted anything to your blog. I was hoping you would have made some sort of comment about it by now.

As I understand social media, it's about a two way conversation. You post something to start the conversation, then people comment on it, you comment back and we all get to know each other. There are many people who just read the posts and don’t join in the conversation, but they also get to know you. It’s really quite pleasant if you do it right.

But you’re not saying anything. You haven’t posted anything to your blog since the end of March. No one can comment on your Facebook profile, you don’t have a Facebook page, you haven’t twittered since March. It’s like you’ve completely ignored the social media aspect of your campaign, except for posting a few articles on your Facebook profile that read about you in a flattering light.

The thing about social media is that it’s transparent. It’s all written, and it’s all there for the world to see. By only posting filtered articles and not allowing, or not responding to comments, you are also being transparent though; you are telling me and your other constituents that you don’t care what we have to say.

A mayor has to care what the people he represents have to say.
